Michael A. Corrigan

Township supervisor


Mike Corrigan is the Proviso Township Supervisor and President of the Proviso Township Mental Health Commissions since 2009. Mike has the fiscal responsibility for overseeing approximately $10 million in combined annual budgets for the residence of Proviso Township. Along with the support of the township trustees and mental health commissioners, the Township has been under budget each year since Mike has been Supervisor. This fiscal responsibility has provided opportunities to invest in projects and programs that further enhance the community of Proviso. Mike’s leadership over the last several years has been recognized by other community leaders and stakeholders that share Mike’s vision of providing services to those that need it the most and for the overall betterment of Proviso Township.

 

Mike is also responsible for the 60 plus employees that work at The Township and for the residence of Proviso Township. Mike strongly believes that hiring good, compassionate people that truly care for people’s wellbeing has been the key to success in furthering the mission at the Township. Having great employees as the first line stewards of being able to respond and deliver the type of care and services for those in need has been a god send.

 

Mike has been married for almost 40 years to his wife Kate. They have lived in Proviso Township for over 35 years. They raised 6 children (5 girls and 1 boy) which are all now leading productive lives, also serving people in their own respective communities. Mike is also a business owner of an independent financial services and consulting business. Mike works with individuals, families and business owners in creating, protecting and implementing strategies to meet their financial goals.

Mike’s financial and business background has provided him with the skills and knowledge in managing the demanding dynamics of Proviso Township.

Anthony "Tony" Williams

Township clerk


Anthony “Tony” Williams has served as the Proviso Township Clerk for 12 years.  He has been a Melrose Park resident for 28 years.  Tony is an owner/operator of an Independent State Farm Agency,


In addition, he is an active member of several organizations, including the Township Officials of Cook County, North Avenue Business Association Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as a board member for Woodlake Hospital.

Additionally, Tony spent 8 years serving as a Trustee for Proviso Township, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and community development.

Steven Z. Zawaski

Assessor of Proviso Township


Elected in 2009, Steven J. Zawaski serves as the Assessor of Proviso Township, where he ensures taxpayers have accurate exemptions, provides guidance in filing appeals against valuations placed by the Cook County Assessor, and serves as a liaison between the taxpayers and the Cook County Assessor. With over 15 years of experience in public service, including a long tenure as an assessor since 2009, Steven brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the office.


A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Steven has a deep commitment to serving others with integrity and discipline. He has also been actively involved in outreaches within the 14 cities and villages of Proviso Township, always working to address critical community issues, such as property tax fairness and improving access to essential resources for residents.

Steven resides in Western Springs with his family and is dedicated to ensuring that the needs of every resident are heard and addressed.

Gay Chase

Trustee


Gay Chase currently serves as a Senior Editor for Thomson Reuters, Practical Law in the Employment Law Group specializing in Federal Employment and Labor Law. Prior to accepting this position in March, 2018, she served in various positions for numerous federal departments, including Federal Administrative Judge with the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, General Services administration, Department of Labor, Department of Defense, Office of Personnel Management, and Internal Revenue Service.  On March 2, 2018, Gay retired after 37 years of federal service.  During the course of her federal career, Gay received numerous awards and special recognition, including being named Federal Employee of the Year, Instructor Emeritus, and a Meritorious Service Award.

 

Gay received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Park College graduating Summa Cum Laude and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago in 1994.

Gay serves as a Trustee for the Proviso Township and a Police and Fire Commissioner with the Village of Bellwood.  She also serves on several not-for-profit boards and served for 11 years as President of Illinois School District 92 Board of Education. Gay is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Evelyn Chavez

Trustee


Evelyn Chavez is a long-time Proviso Township resident.  She is currently a Bellwood resident but previously lived in Stone Park.  Evelyn graduated from Triton College with an Associates in Science and went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Business from DePaul University.  She is a member of Neighbors in Action of Stone Park.  She has 12 years of service as a Trustee for Proviso Township.

Joseph Christopher

Trustee


Joe has been a Westchester resident for over 50 years, graduating from Westchester Public School District 92.5 and Proviso West High School. Joe earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Elmhurst University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School at DeVry University.



Professionally, Joe has worked in Community Banking for over 30 years and has been involved in numerous community organizations.

Joe has been a Township Trustee since 2013, bringing his knowledge and experiences to benefit the township residents. He enjoys serving his community and always prioritizes the residents needs in his decision making.

Tommy Olson

Trustee


A lifelong resident of Melrose Park, Tommy Olson has dedicated his career to public service, education, and community development. He is an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Melrose Park and currently serves as President of both the Triton College Foundation and the Veterans Park District Board of Commissioners. His commitment to local education and health initiatives is reflected in his roles as a board member for the School District 89 Education Foundation, the Proviso Township Mental Health Commission, and the Proviso Public Partnership. In recognition of his impactful leadership and service, he was named an inaugural honoree on the Triton College Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame in 2015 and received the Grand Corridor Chamber of Commerce's Diamond Anniversary Community Advancement Award in 2020.

He is now a proud member of the Proviso Township Board and is ready to make positive contributions for the residents of Proviso.
